Analysis of the census results should start early, and be documented and used, to assist in developing the materials needed for pre-tests, pilots, the census, and post-enumeration surveys. After about 1970, hand calculators were used to assist in analyzing the results, but now countries use personal computers for analysis. Usually, analysis involves imputing tabulation results into Excel or other packages to obtain direct and indirect analysis.
